Week08


We're back!



And with it, lots of gifs and new features!
After not giving you what you yearn for so badly, we have come to right our wrongs!

But first...



...Programming:
This week was great, because we got a lot of visual stuff to show for (mostly thanks to our amazing artists) in addition to (super interesting) system stuff. 



We have started to add a main menu, which is still quite simple for now, but works perfectly for the first player to navigate through it, start the game, quit the game, ... We also started implementing a character selection, though this is not quite finished yet.





There are also some new mechanics, though they aren't all added fully into the game yet: items spawn around the level in random intervals, we started implementing traps as well, fixed some issues (the players now have a perfectly working knockback when getting hit), ...



The players also have a new state next to the already implemented burning and poisoning: cursed! When a player gets cursed, the player gets random behaviour like inverted controller keys, random movement (player could start jumping out of nowhere), can stun you and so on!



So, while we are finishing up our manager systems and menu controllers, which are all in the background, we could also implement a lot of rfx and animations.
So without further ado, here are:




Animations

The heavy attack, you can charge it up aswell for more damage, knockback and stuntime





The quick attack, quick and deadly (actually less deadly than the heavy attack)




Here is the heavy animation with the axe!



Idling , probably scouting around for a banana




Jumping with joy! (or fear)



Those who deal damage should be able to take damage

Shaders and RFX


 

There are some beautyful shaders for the fires now


Oh, I forgot to mention, you can get cursed now!

Do you like inverted controls? Being stunned? Or your character just moving around randomly?
No? Oh...weeeeell, you still get it!


Fruit thats ripe gives you a heal over time!


However fruit thats spoiled will poison you!



Items

The last manager related thing is the Level Managers item and trap spawning capability.
Since there are no traps there yet, you can see it spawning bananas in action! (In the top left and left side :P )



You can also pickup and swap weapons and items



What's next?

By next week we will most likely have our UI finished and all the character animations and in the game.
We should by then also be done with most of our managers and be able to focus solely on content.
