Week05

DevLog - Post 03

Production has started

It is finally actually on its way.
After creating all the tasks we think we need to fullfill to create the game and planning the first sprint, we have actually started development.

However, spoiler warnings, this will be a rather short post in comparison, since we just started properly.

On the programming end we are currently working mostly on the components that the characters need, since those are our highest priority.
By now we have created clean versions of more than half of the components the prototype had, so we are well on our way.
Of course some of these component are not "finishable", because one of the biggest aspect of this game is how it feels to control the character.
For that reason, we will have to do a ton of balancing along the way.
But for now, we allready have very solid base components, that are easily expandable and reworkable.

What will the coming week look like?
Finish the main mechanics up, create the ingame management system.
After the coming week, we should be "done" with the character and be able to add all the surrounding things and spend a lot of time testing, tweaking, polishing and adding extra/deeper/more specific behaviour.

On the art end, a lot of things are happening.
Our artists have set their priority on the main and most obvious parts of the game, which includes first and foremost the characters, then the level, the totem and some traps. Additionally we have looked into and created some shaders for our style.

At this point, we allready have a lot of meshes finished and can show some things inside our project allready.

By next week, we hope to have the main characters ready, to have some environment and the most important level structures ready to go and have at least one of the attack animations done.

This is all for this week, we have been working very hard and a lot, but because of that, this will be our shortest post.

Thanks for keeping up to date with us, you will hear and again see more from us in the coming weeks.
